Tom: Hey Mum. Is it OK if I borrow your alarm clock?我可以借你的闹钟吗?

Mum: Yeah, you can, but please make sure you give it back to me记得把它还给我 when you don’t need it any more.

Tom: Thanks, Mum, you’re the best.

Mum: Um. Tom. Can I just ask? Why do you need an alarm clock? Tomorrow’s Saturday.

Tom: I know but I want to wake up and watch the sun rise我想醒来看日出.

Mum: What? Do you have any idea how early that is?

Tom: Yes, it’s 5.32 tomorrow. I checked online.

Mum: Tom – are you feeling OK? Getting up early on a Saturday – this is very unlike you.

Tom: Don’t worry, Mum. It’s part of a challenge.这是一个挑战的一部分

Mum: What challenge?

Tom: I’ve got this list – ten things to do this summer这个夏天要做的十件事. It’s already July. So I don’t have that much time left. I need to start doing some stuff.

Mum: And watching the sun rise is one of them?

Tom: Yes, it’s one of the easiest.

Mum: Interesting. Can I have a look at this list?

Tom: Sure. I’ll send you the link.

Mum: So what other things are on it? Learn to help your mum in the kitchen?

Tom: Very funny, Mum. No, it’s more about stuff you can do outside. Things like eat an apple straight off a tree and feed a bird from your hand.

Mum: I like the idea of this list. Anything that gets you off your computer and out into the real world离开电脑,走到真实世界里, well, it must be good.

Tom: That’s the idea, I think. Anyway, a few of my friends and I have decided to do it. We’re having a competition to see who can finish first.

Mum: So is there anything I can help you with?

Tom: Well, yeah, there is. Could you give me a lift to the Malvern hills tomorrow?明天你能开车送我去 Malvern Hills 吗?

Mum: The Malvern hills?

Tom: Yeah, I need to climb a huge hill.我需要爬一座大山 I think they are big enough.

Mum: And you want to do this after you’ve got up at 5.30.

Tom: 5.32 – yes. Well, I might go back to bed for a few hours first but then we could go a bit later.

Mum: And take a picnic with us. Sounds like a really good idea.

Tom: Thanks, Mum.

Mum: You get to tick things off your list把清单上的事情打勾完成 and I get to spend some time with you!

Tom: Careful, Mum. Don’t spoil it!

Mum: Sorry. Forget I ever said that. Now let’s go and get that alarm clock ...
